Character Talks IA Blog
Monthly posts exploring different character virtues.
When I think about loyalty there is an instinctive feeling of being protective, an act that runs deep within. For many of us loyalty is usually referred to others, family and friends and not ourselves.
I think that it is so important to find a balance between loyalty to you and to others. Loyalty has a strong affinity to being faithful to something or a person; because there is a sense of love attached to loyalty. We would often go the ends of the earth for those whom we are loyal to. We are usually loyal to those who we connect with and those who also show us loyalty too. Surrounding yourself with honest and loyal people is vital in maintaining happy and healthy friendships. So if this important for others, it is also essential for us.
What would it look like to be loyal to yourself?
Loyalty shouts out ‘ I care for you!’ Let’s start by caring for who you are. Let’s start to embrace the greatness that has been given to us. We all have a unique purpose in life and our starting point is to be loyal to the amazing inner greatness that allows us our possibilities.
Being faithful to what you believe is right and
not giving up on you.
Not changing who you are, but being the best that you can be.
Loyalty teaches us commitment and patience, most friendships that we invest in requires these qualities. So for us, it’s about being patient with ourselves, being committed to our growth and the many journeys that we embark on. Most of all, loyalty is about valuing others and ourselves.
Be loyal to your goals and dreams
Be willing to improve yourself, because you know that your potential has more to give the world
You cannot invest in everyone. Choose wisely.
Be your best friend.
Be loyal to the royal within you.
