Character Talks IA Blog
Monthly posts exploring different character virtues.
Imagine you’re in my living room or we are in a cool hang space and you want my personal thoughts about the meaning of perseverance. I will say “it has to happen”.
Whatever your goal is, it’s the ability to keep on going through it all.
In return I will definitely ask you to ask yourself, what is my goal and why am I even thinking of doing this?
For instance take Tanisha and Sabrina, one wants to save money in order to take a beauty course abroad. The other needs equipment for her radio station venue.
Tanisha’s way of thinking and her strategy might be to weigh up the risks, negatives, criticism, lack of 'a, b and c' but is determined to reach her goals.
Whilst Sabrina has not thought through the risks but is determined to reach to her goal.
Do you think about your passion and your goals every day? Even when your mind is switched off this idea still brings excitement and motivation which should lead into ACTIONS! Like Q-TIP song “It’s a vivrant thing.” A vibe you cannot shake away your intuition telling you, you got this!
Perseverance is the powerful JOURNEY needed to achieve success despite barriers and difficulties you may face.
Simply put... it's when crappy results happen, the unexpected the disappointment is when someone usually DECIDES to NOT get back up push through that forceful wind.
I’m going to tell you the secret to success…. (it is the crappy parts).
It’s the golden ticket, the key, the answer to being successful. Perseverance builds your character, attitude, motivation, self-belief and shows your adaptable, resilient and trustworthy.
Perseverance also seals protects and locks in the vision in your own mind, to achieve your goals. You now have to OWN IT, BE IT.
Being committed to your goal, having more than one job, reading more, practicing more etc.. actively strengthening yourself and craft to get closer to your desires and goal. Family expectations, outside opinions, prestige for approval won’t get you respect and satisfaction. When you stumble on your own, you still win because it was all on your terms.
Here’s another golden nugget, the accomplishment is not actually the prize, The End. No it is not.
But of course WELL DONE!
Back to my example Tanisha went to New York to do her course and Sabrina got all the equipment to fully set up her radio station space in central London.
Instead what they did was mastered the ART of creating the groundation (aka foundation) of developing more of what they want. Within their journey (the crappy parts) they pushed through it, the experience gave them the tools ‘know how’ which at the time they really did not know how things will turn out.
Perseverance is discipline and tunnel vision. You probably have heard informal slang phrases “Stay in your lane” or “I’m my own competition”.
The two examples had different rationales with getting what they wanted but they never what? …gave up.
